What's y'all's take on this show? Is it cringeworthy for the locals? When I watch it I can just hear the locals thinking "Oh great, more malihini mainlanders moving in...." And the budgets! One couple went up to 1.5 mil on a military salary on Oahu--is that even possible?
There was a nice ep though recently of a young couple moving to Puna. They looked at houses in HPP and their budget was $250,000. Much more reasonable...

Never heard of it. You have to remember that a lot of people in Puna don't watch cable or satellite TV.

I've watched several shows out of curiosity. Majority of the BI house hunting shows are for property on the Kona side. There's one episode in particular that stood out for me when house hunting in Puna. One person asked what that big thing in the yard was...the realtor said it was a rain catchment tank. They appeared stunned and the realtor told them they could plant some trees or bushes around it if they wished. Interesting to hear how the realtors introduce the life style of Puna as they're showing homes/properties.
I like watching occasionally to see what the housing market's like on the outer islands. It was my impression that Kauai is one of the hottest markets right now. Poipu's looking more and more like Konafornia.

There two different shows: Hawaii Life and Buying Hawaii. Buying Hawaii is far more entertaining because they talk about all the “dangers” of buying in Hawaii like volcanoes, centipedes, coquis, etc. Hawaii Life tends to gloss over those subjects.
I think they stopped filming Buying Hawaii, though.

I only watch the shows about HPP. I get to see inside houses for sale without going to an open house!

"She waits tables and I'm a gardener. We want a condo overlooking Waikiki and our budget is $800,000." Yeah I used to watch that show for laughs.
