A Big Island man captured a 14.5 inch " venomous" centipede behind his home. I can't handle a 3 inch centipede. So nice to know we have foot longs running around our yards!!!

In our experience, the 3 inch Centepedes are usually the blue legged ones and they’re much more venomous than the red ones. I squished a red one bare footed after he bit my toe with me no more damage done to me. It barely hurt.. The little blue legged suckers keep on biting and are really hard to kill. After smacking one repeatedly while he was in my pant leg ferociously taking bites out of me, I finally passed him to my son, a Marine at the time, and he dispatched the sucker for good.
Even worse, the blue legged ones hurt at first and then itch like the devil for a couple of weeks.

a centipede of this size could easy catch a rat. they might be a good thing to have around as pets if you have a rat problem.
Okay Google... Who are these people and why ain't they working?

There was this game I played back when I was a kid. Dungeons & Dragons. A fantasy game where you and other friends each make up a character and then go on an Adventure, managed by another player, the dungeonmaster. The dungenmaster has access to book filled with monsters and everything you need to know about them. These monsters face you in your quest to save the princess in the evil wizards tower or whatever. Dragons, goblins, faeries, unicorns, etc etc. There were also giant animals. Giant spiders, giant rats, etc etc and even giant centipedes. They were a foot long and aggressive little buggers. At some point while growing up here I realized we had a monster from the D&D book living right here in our back yard.

Finally saw a picture of it on the news.
After a rocket attack from N.K., that will be considered tiny.

I think I'd rather have a cat or a dog myself.

Where do the bigger centipedes tend to live? We live around 5th/Makuu in HPP & have seen 1 larger one & a few small blue ones & that's it. We do have gravel all around our house & no plants against the house. Hope we NEVER get one of those BIG ones!#128561;
