David - at the rate you are going you should be done by my next vacation. Man, I shouldn't have rented the Kapoho house. I have enough former Atlantans that I could have just stayed a night here & there SmileSmileSmile

Aimee - so true, so true. Tonight we had dinner with a couple that breed dogs like yours. When are you going to be here?

We will be there 12/23-12/30 and Oahu 12/30-1/3. My sister & niece might join us this trip.

Were the dachshunds miniatures? I am sure they were not as cute as mine?Smile But all dachshunds are adorable. Hopefully there will be enough folks there with doxies to start an annual Hallowiener like we have here. It is a pretty cool fundraiser for the dachshund rescue.

I know where that is. We are near Scottsdale Road and East McKellips. About 2 miles or so north of the University.

Aloha!

Carolann R. It sure is a small world! Good luck in Hawaiian Shores and selling your AZ house! Perhaps our paths will cross on The Big (small) Island! Aloha

What type of exterior finish do plan to use on your ProTEC walls?

Did you do any cost ProTEC comparisons to traditional stick houses?

Thanks again in advance!!!

Hey David,
Earlier this week we spent time on your area of the island. We went to Waipio Valley and spent the night in Hawi. I saw what I saw in your pictures. Beautiful ocean views with green grass hills. Very Spectacular. Next time gotta stop in and see your progress.

Aloha

We have Box 3

http://community.webshots.com/album/468915553RbjdnV/14

Box 3 is 24X42 and will be home to bathroom for the main house, laundry, a bulk pantry, 2 car drive thru garage and my workshop.

We've also started the last box - main house.

Trolleys -
No final decision yet, but leaning toward a stucco type - perhaps Dryvit, texture application on exterior.

I don't have those numbers at this point and the rough comparisons I did 2 years ago are very outdated. One thing you might do is figure what it would cost to construct an R20 wall (framing, sheathing, insulation, vapor barrier, and dry wall). Figure the cost per vertical sqft. Minus labor, Protec is approx $9/sqft if I'm correct.
Labor is a major cost savings.

Wyatt - yep - wish you guys wouyld stop by sometime. We do agree it is beautifully in our neck of the woods.

Box 4 - the great room, area...whatever.
This box is 28x42 and is one completely open room that will function as living room, dining, and kitchen. Makai wall will be 3 sets of french doors surrounded by 4 sets of leaded glass panels.
