Descriptions would really help us in our cause (anti-theft)

What we need is: community collective surveillance, basically a Facebook that's pointed out your front door, up/down the road at your driveway, with buttons for "Dislike" and "Share".

A good implementation of this would really help with the lack of official enforcement/response around here.

Yeah but go ahead and discredit me Rob. As if what I wrote wasn't pertinent, factual and relevant to the topic. When there's a disagreement here comes the rescuer calling highjack. Makes me wonder if Paul and Rob are buddies.

In his original post, PaulW wrote that his neighborhood has seen an increase in numerous salesmen. I'm grateful to him for informing me, it's something I want to be aware of as it may happen where I or my neighbors live and want to be prepared. Thank you. I don't need a description of every one of them, I now have a good idea of what to look out for.

salesman does not equal thief

one sells you stuff

the other steals your stuff

It's not that hard

This thread is about salesmen. Go start your own thread about thieves. With detailed descriptions, if you will. Thanks!

PS I've never met Rob but he's the best moderator I've ever encountered on a forum.
PPS TomK, you're welcome. At last I hear from someone who understands. I assume most people do and have taken heed. My work here is done.

OP's (original poster) comments, subsequent to his original post:

It doesn’t matter where they are from, what they selling or what they are wearing. Often times they refuse to leave without making a sale......salesman does not equal thief.

No it does not equal thief, but if someone refuses to leave a property that is almost as bad as a thief.

Knowing the description of these refusers is helpful. It can makes the difference between me, when I spy someone coming down my driveway, approaching them in a neutral manner versus me making sure I have my big walking stick in hand, which doubles as a club.

Rather odd logic throughout this whole thread.

Forget the encyclopedias, ask him if he can sell you a good dictionary instead.

I give up.

The same applies to you. PaulW reports several salesmen visiting him. Is he supposed to report the description of every one of them? Can't people here just accept PaulW is reporting an uptake in salesman rather than require a ridiculous amount of further information? WTF is going on with some here? What do you want, their star signs?

Unbelievable.

"Is he supposed to report the description of every one of them? "

Nope. But if some salesmen are particularly aggressive, a description would be appreciated. Concern was heightened when PaulW, subsequent to his OP, elaborated that some salespeople were refusing to leave properties without a sale.

I surmise if Paul W just said he didn't recall or nondescript upon being asked for a description, no issue would have arose.

Seems the comment "It doesn’t matter.... what they are wearing" struck some people the wrong way. I see their point. (I am not one of the original objectors.)

I'm surprised they haven't made it to your area yet TomK, maybe you were out. Then again, to go door-to-door in HPP would take quite a while.
