If this is the case where the victim probably got infected from starting a siphon with his mouth on a hose there is almost no overlap with the threat posed by normal catchment water systems. He could literally have swallowed a small slug that was hiding in the hose if said hose had been lying on the ground. I do however agree that the question of lungworm distribution in and around catchment tanks is totally reasonable to address and should be right at the top of the list for study. And who knows, my hunch might be wrong. Maybe the little buggers can swim. It is a given though that the ability of the worms to survive in water will be blown out of proportion. Nothing I have read leads me to believe that they are concentrated in water like they are in a slug.
