School Walkouts
This was questioned. "There are more weapons per capita in Switzerland than any other western nation"

This is probably true; Switzerland is the classic militia country. I don't know if the weapons are in individual homes or are secured in armories next to city hall. (The latter is likely the case for weapons excluding hunting rifles).

In the event of attack by another nation, all Swiss men were trained to immediately grab a weapon and respond.

Some historians have told us this is a major reason that Hilter did not attack the Swiss (second is their mountain defense).

The nation probably controls all weapons in the country pretty well.

I've spent quite a bit of time in Switzerland, and it is a beautiful, safe country. Compulsory military service for all men ages 18-34 includes many, but not all, keeping their service rifles at home. Once service is completed, some buy their military rifles and continue to keep them at home. Nearly all guns have to be registered, and purchasing a gun or ammunition requires a permit with strict conditions. Those regulations are surprisingly similar to Hawaii's.

As for World War II, a Swiss friend told me, "Yes, we were well defended, but ultimately Hitler did not invade because we were worth more to the Germans as a 'window' to the rest of the world than we would have been worth as a conquest." Most historians agree.

THANK YOU Deputy Blaine Gaski

Yes, he he deserves our thanks for his quick action at the school shooting this morning.
And thankfully, the student shooter only brought a single handgun, not an armful of assault rifles, which no doubt also limited what could have been a far greater tragedy.

"A male student produced a handgun and fired a round, wounding a female student and another male student in a hallway of Great Mills High School just before classes"

edited: "had access" to "brought" for RWR & leilanidude

How do you know that ? Right now it's reading like he was after someone specific.

Another hole in a baddy who may have only been targeting one.... or many. Works for me either way that the good guy with a gun prevented a hypothetical worse.

Try to look @ the positive for once.

In which case the shooter would have stopped by himself? Without any intervention? Is that what you're saying?

You don't know that.

Like RWR says, he seemed to be after the girl. He fired one round at her and struck her and the other boy.

The armed guard in the school did exactly what he was supposed to do. Accounts are saying that the guard was on the scene in under a minute. The shooter had at least that much time to shoot others.

We don't need to speculate about these things, there are facts available:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Estimated_...by_country

It is by no means true. As expected, the US has far and away the most guns of any country, Western or otherwise.
Maybe that's why we have so many senseless shootings. Less guns = less shootings. It's not rocket science.

That wasn't a good outcome to the school shooting this morning but at least it wasn't a lot worse.
Imagine how much better it would be if the laws made it very very difficult for a child to get his hands on a gun.
