Kahlua Pig...YUM
#1
Hey I am taking PJ's advice and gonna have an aloha party before we leave...I figure I'll just have people over on a Saturday or Sunday like an open house...just let 'em come during the day when they want...so - I am testing recipes...

Right now my house smells like the local Hawaiian Restaurant I love - Moki's.

There's Kahlua Pig in the oven and gonna serve it with sweet potatoes and Jasmine rice. I found an awesome Banana-Pineapple Upside Down Cake on the internet from a Hawaiian site I found...I used Mac's for the nuts in it...I'll tell ya how it turns out and if anyone wants the recipe it's yours!

I'm gonna get some lei and fun stuff from the local party store. Any suggestions that will make it fun and not too expensive??

AloooooHA!

We do a "snacktivity" here at our house when our friends come over. We buy a bamboo sushi roller (about $2 here but should be able to find in an Asian store) and the nori wraps. I grate a cup or so of carrot & cucumber, dice green onion, slice avos, and ahi, salmon, or crab meat, and 2 cups of rice, and rice wine vinegar. We let everyone "roll their own"!! It is so fun to watch everyone's rolls... some are fat, some are lopsided, some are perfect... all taste good! We have a couple of small finger bowls for shoyu and wasabi. Add some pickled ginger if you can find it! For true Hawaiian flare, have sliced Spam also to add or if you also can find a musubi maker.

Thanks Cat - that's something I would love...but I don't know a lot of people here in Arizona that like sushi the way I do. I lived in Southern California for 10 years and used to go to a great sushi place there.

In fact there is a small drive-thru sushi place in North Scottsdale that I go to sometimes. Believe it or not - some of the freshest sushi I ever had. Tony's not nuts about the idea of sushi...even something like California roll! He's more of a carne asada guy. But he likes Kahlua Pig very much LOL!
