I used to keep about 75 or more orchids in my living room back in AK.
And did so for about 10 years. I worked very hard at maintaining them under those conditions. Shortly before moving here, I divested myself of orchids. Since acquiring our place I began to acquire more with the caveat that I was not going to work at them. All of my orchids except for a very few are tree mounted. I take them home, throw them into the air, and yell FLY! Only a few are mounted on an artificial mounts. Even those I do not work at once they're mounted. Almost every morning I walk the yard with coffee in hand checking to see what is in bloom, and what's still alive. Many are Dendrobium section Dendrobium species plants. They are beginning their new growth period. But, all are dropping their old leaves in response to the SO2. If the new growths survive everything will be OK. If not ... so be it. EDIT: I wonder if this having an impact on Yamamoto Orchids? I am a species snob. But, I love the Yamamoto hybrids.
