Make Pohoiki a world class surf spot
#1
This has been discussed many times over the years.

Now is the perfect time. There is no environmental issue as all of the coral, not that there was any to speak of, is dead and all of the sea life is dead as well.

Left point at Kalapana was a world class surf spot, and it was great to have all the sport professionals around here, Puna had a completely different feel. Great idea leilanidude.

So it can be overrun with visitors? Maybe a surf school with rental boards so the lineup gets super big? What's the plan here?

It takes earthquakes, ground subsidence, to make good surf breaks in Lower Puna.

Permission needed from the Sierra Club and other parties in Hawaii that find coastal modification to be harmful or desecration to the environment.

(Natural activities such as lava flows covering a bay do not constitute environmental degradation. Nature is incapable of hurting itself. Only man can hurt Nature.)

Yes.
Visitors that spend money. As in visitors that rent vacation rentals, which provided a large number of jobs in the area.

"...Nature is incapable of hurting itself. Only man can hurt Nature."

That statement assumes man is not a part of nature.

Don't worry -- County is working to shut that down.

Funny thing about tourism: major commercial properties (Hilton, Marriott) basically don't care about service quality because they don't have to.
