knieft - Wonder how the Monday (read Thursday thru Saturday) quarterbacking will go?
Where's the hail, Mary?
Well dear, you never know how many inches you'll get or how long it'll last.
That's what she said!

That spaghetti loop up between Kohala and Maui... Who's to say the hurricane won't just settle in there and keep spinning around? I can just see Magno laughing and making the whole area a mandatory evacuation zone. Could be "months or years"! Earth will have a spot like Jupiter...
Or, as my coworker says, this is just economic stimulous for the local economy. Gotta sell some milk, bread, and tarps.

Ok... Feeling a sigh of relief. Lane's center is now 300 miles south, just past south point and starting to weaken. New one day out projections now take Lane a little further away from the big island.

Yup that is what a lot of us have been predicting based on the tracking. Safest here in Puna, more uncertainty for the rest of the islands.
And yup the rain-bands that follow the storm expected. That's where Puna will feel Lane's wrath. Maybe more than Hector if it keeps rising northwest.

While still rubbing the sleep out of my eyes, I was informed that it may take as long as 2 weeks for our surface supply lines to get reestablished, Young Bros., and others.
Sounds like I should have gone out and joined in with the stock-up frenzy.
But then, If I ain't got it, I don't need it.

Yep...my brother is a Matson container ship captain and he normally pulls into Honolulu from LA around 4:00pm today. He was just told by harbor control not to enter until further notice.

Hurricane geeks are having a hay day with their Lane speculations. They seem to think this storm will dump huge amounts of rainfall on the islands.
