Helicopter post deleted--see FAA thread

Please do describe your hell! Better still, tell me where and when I have to go to experience it for myself.
Also, please tell me how many overflights per hour I should expect. Thanks.

I am currently spared by this "Hell" but can confirm the fact that if you're living in the helicopter highway, there is constant noise from the engine and propeller blades. The smell part I did not notice but certainly think it is possible (depending on the winds.)

If Puuoo starts spewing again, I'm sure I will be quickly reminded.

You see, some people are more sensitive then others so, what might be one person's hell, might be of no consequence to another.

Differences in sensitivities with sounds and smells are just the start. There can be sensitivities to emotions and energy too.(Also some people are more sensitive to rude replies online and lash back more than others instead of ignoring)

Imagine a completely different life style from your own where Zen meditation and quietness is of utmost importance.

So simply because you can handle it doesn't mean that others can take it in stride as easily as you.

Please, keep in mind, some here lack the empathy gene.

I want to hear more about empathy from the fake science dude (glindakine) who went on the radio to tell people they were about to die in their millions but it was all good because they were unhappy anyway.

“Whether someone is a kook or a legitimate scientist is not really an opinion.”

Ha ha. It seems to be that way on Punaweb

ElysianWort - glassnumbers has provided a good description of contrails, a phenomenon that has been known about for decades - there are pictures of aircraft during WWII producing long-lasting contrails as planes flew higher and higher. Helicopters here don't produce contrails as they fly too low, but certainly produce short-lived versions, just visit Hilo airport in high-humidity conditions, the rotor blades produce them.

Chemtrails are a product of a nutty conspiracy theory that developed in the mid-1990s once the kookier amongst us discovered how to use the internet to spread their ideas, and unfortunately, it just keeps getting worse. The chemtrail conspiracy theory claims governments are using regular airliners to spray the world's population with chemicals for a number of reasons, most kooks these days seem to think it's to control our minds, but theories include population control and weather modification. There is, of course, little to no evidence for this, and using Occam's razor, I hope you understand that contrails are the more likely explanation - and I say that using a little British understatement.

On another note, although I hate the helicopter noise, I have never smelled them.

PS. Chas - I hope you don't mind me using the term "kook", but it's exactly what these people are. Chemtrails, Rods, psychics, astrologers, flat-earthers, 911 conspiracists, greys, lizard people, cubic-box nuts etc. Whether you like it or not, skeptics and scientists are going to show that kooks post nonsense whether it hurts your sensibilities or not, and for good reason.

Ah cool thanks for the 411. I grew up here so I hardly ever saw contrails as a kid and never thought much of them when I did. I'd be visiting relatives on the mainland USA from time to time and just figured it was jet exhaust. Then later in life I heard some of those whacky stories about chemtrails but never looked into it from there because it sounded far-fetched.

I wasn't kidding about the part where I'm noticing more jets leaving contrails out here in Puna. I work outside a lot and enjoy hearing the peaceful sounds of nature when I do, (no radio or headphones) so I'm able to notice the quietest jet engine way up in the atmosphere.

Chemtrails, Rods, psychics, astrologers, flat-earthers, 911 conspiracists, greys,

I gotta agree with you there on most of those.

But I have to ask: You're a scientist and probably well versed in math chemistry physics and probabilities Tom, may I ask you if you believe it is likely that both of those towers collapsed, "demolition charge at the bottom style", instead of the top toppling over or even remaining standing and burning off all the fuel and be left with frame with a hole in the middle the size of a plane?

There are very few high altitude jet flights over Puna. Check out a Flight Aware, zoom out on the map and you can see the flight paths from the mainland and Asia into Hawaii.
If you think you see a jet leaving contrails in the sky, there is live info on their website showing the flight path, air speed, and altitude:

EW,

The fires started by the aircraft collisions caused the inside columns inside the buildings to fail which caused the floors to sag and pull in the exterior columns which then caused the towers to collapse vertically. I don't think this is a discussion for PW though.
