All fees go into the general fund, including the 17 k that the master gardeners collected
For years in hard work ,while volunteering, sad. The general fund, a local black hole? Dan D HPP HPP

"Each auto registration includes $12 towards disposal. I wonder where that money went?"
I have an old farm truck that I use on public roadways maybe once a month for dump runs, etc. If you total up my registration, insurance fees etc, it costs me at least $20 per trip every time I drive it not even counting gasoline or maintenance. It's good to know that I'm also paying $1 per use to go towards disposing of other people's vehicles. (not). ETA: insurance question! If I'm driving my truck about 12 days per year, why is it insured for 365 days? Is it possible for me to just activate my insurance the day I use it, and then cancel it the next day? Would USAA dump me?

I belive its a month at a time. Might be cheaper to sell the truck, and pay $50 a haul
Instead? Aloha HPP HPP

quote: Or possibly replace truck with a trailer. Of course, must pay a silly registration fee for the trailer then. Anyone know how much this costs? If based on weight of trailer it would be hard to justify a price gouging, but I'm sure DMV could figure out a way to do it.

Most insurance policies also apply to a vehicle you don't own "when driven in place of your regular vehicle". Merely transfer the title and registration to "a friend" and you'll be covered whenever you're "borrowing" their truck. There's also the option of Hawaiian Kingdom plates; as the Kingdom isn't part of the US, vehicles with Kingdom registration should obviously be exempt from all US rules and laws. I've long wondered why we can't have services in the subdivisions, thereby making them reachable via private roads, making it possible to take out the trash with a quad, thereby saving time while burning less gas...

"Or possibly replace truck with a trailer."
When I looked the trailer registration fee was comparable to the truck, and it still requires safety inspections.
