New HPP lot owner; space to rent while setting up?
#1
Does anyone have or know of a safe space to rent near either Hilo or HPP for up to 1 year?
I’m a floor sleeper, so I literally am just looking for an affordable space (with internet). Looking to move in near end of November. I wouldn’t need any cooking amenities - just some water & shower/toilet access (can do off grid). Would especially love if there’s a farmer’s market or fruit trees nearby.

Thank you kindly for your advice!! Apologies if this is the wrong section to be posting under.
I'm also scouring craigslist & fb pages, but thought I'd draw from any help here as well.

Email is hibisonia@gmail.com

If you end up needing a hotel, Reed's Bay is cheap, scenic, and has week and month stay discounts. Full private bathroom and kitchenette, which can be nice when you're working in the rain for a week on your property and need a day off.

Low end housing is still very tight since the lava flow. Have a place planned out before you get here,

Sooner or later you are going to need a vehicle. You might as well get one when you arrive, preferably a truck with a camper shell.

Get a bucket and plastic bags and camp on your property. Its a great way to get to know your neighborhood, watch your stuff and save a lot of money. Once a week or as often as you can afford, check into the Wild Ginger Inn ($52) for a night to clean up and get a good nights rest.

The Wild Ginger Inn ain't the Hilton, but it will feel like Paradise compared to the back of your truck.

Thank you guys! Very helpful. Yes Mangosteen, camping on the property is a good idea that I'm considering - I've seen an affordable monthly RV rental for this as well, if I can't get a car immediately.
