eruption recovery "talk story"
#1
https://www.hawaiitribune-herald.com/201...-recovery/

comments made at the session would be passed to the county's disaster recovery team.

Does anyone else find this offensive?

Put another way: when my propert taxes come due, can I schedule some "talk story" about my "plans for long-term recovery"?

I wouldn't even be able to go, what do you say to the county/mayors office who hit us hard when we were down? I'm talking about the assault on our vacation rental industry, bill 108, which is creating a huge domino affect of financial grief all over Puna. Even though I am one of the lucky ones who can get grandfathered in, do I really want to send a letter furnishing a complaint phone number to all neighbors in the vicinity? Just one of many insulting hoops to jump thru each year. What other businesses do this? Long term rentals have exponentially more issues disturbing neighbors in Puna, it's too bizarre and disturbing.

What would I say or do that wouldn't get me thrown in jail? Definitely not going to that meeting.
