Has anyone else noticed things ringing up for the wrong amount at the Hilo Walmart? It seems every other trip I notice an item ringing up a fraction of a dollar higher. Probably employees accidentally not updating the pricing on the shelves, but it happens so often I can't help but wonder...

The Pahoa Longs did this regularly for sale items. I don't know if they still do, as I stopped going there for this very reason. After the third time in as many trips, I was told that it was due to the wrong price being coded into the register/computer for a particular barcode. It never happened to me at any of the other Longs. After telling several friends, they also would find errors, always to a higher price than advertised.

Last experience I had was at Target. Sign said 2 orange juice for $6 but rang up at $4.89 each.

On occasion I'll take my items, leave the checkout line, go to the shelf, pull off the sign, and return to the cashier with it, and demand that price. They'll usually do it (but irritably).

Food Land Kea'au more worse.
Not only do they charge the non sale price on sale items - they regularly add on the last purchasers last 3 or 4 items. Especially at Food Stamp week .
We raise pilau with management and believe me - they do NOT want a 90 something grand mother screaming at them .
We no longer shop at Food Land Kea'au.
Safe way and walmart and longs all do the same.Hold up the line while reviewing your items purchased and ask for top management should you think or know you are being ripped off.Even KTA will do this from time to time....

I haven't noticed it at Food Land, but I will start paying more attention. At least they have the monitors so you can see all the items prices and whether or not a discount applied. Of course, their prices as listed on the shelves are still criminal...
Whenever I see a really good sale price now I take a picture with my cellphone, in case it wrings up wrong later. Maybe we should all start writing down the prices on our shopping lists as we go!

Yes 2 cents it works and always does.
Lets not forget that Food Land is an Oahu outlet so those who shop at Malama Market or Food Land are paying the 1 percent extra for rail.
We raise stink every time any store gauges us even on senior citizen discount day .Holding up the line is FUN and people really pay attention.
The top managements excuses are all the same - bar code not in sinc with price on shelf - some one entered code wrong .Our fixed income must be watched carefully and making it month to month is a subject of consternation in our family.
Plus teaching the grand children about budgeting and if an out let is ripping us off - say something and raise Cain .We are sure during food stamp week - every store makes an extra million or two - Even Ruses Island Naturals in Pahoa or Hilo Shopping center does the very same . We no longer shop at Island Naturals.
