I'm sure the rail had nothing to do with this.

The federal Department of Transportation will disburse some $1.5 billion to fund 91 infrastructure projects around the country -- none in Hawaii.
The grants are generated by the department’s BUILD infrastructure support program and will fund road, rail and port projects in every state -- and the District of Columbia -- except Hawaii.

Perhaps we need better Senate and House representatives who work for our benefit rather than for their reelection campaign.

good question lolo...where are Hirano, Shatz, Hanabusa, Gabbard on this EXCLUSION?
secondly...where is harry and the rest of the mayors on this exclusion? The money excluded may have been funds for the entire State and not just oahu. we all LOST
Interesting, oahu is drowning in debt from the rail and yet, no kala for you Hawaii, and not a peep from our esteemed leaders.
local rags aren't giving this much cover either

No highways to build. Makes sense.feds are smart that way.
If Hawaii county was smart, They could say they wanted to build a hiway around the island.. get the fed funding.. and take 50 years to get it done.

Project applications were evaluated by a team of 222 career staff in the Department and selected based on established criteria. The criteria included safety, economic competitiveness, quality of life, environmental protection, and state of good repair. Further criteria included innovation, such as projects supporting Autonomous Vehicles infrastructure, broadband service to underserved communities, as well as projects that demonstrate partnerships between the public and private sectors, and non-Federal revenue for transportation infrastructure investments. The Department prioritized rural projects that aligned with the criteria and addressed rural infrastructure needs.

I think we fit...the grant does not seem to be limited to new construction
