Just spoke with Donna in Mayors office. Had info on desk since dec 1 so old info.
Royal pools kona got bid. They inspected and found more cracks. $150k to fix. Eta fixed by jan 30. Hmmm interesting that bid matched mayors guestimate, versus the 75 k estimate from aquatics?..It would be wonderfull if its done by then, maybe they will paint it this time? Last 2.0 million job had no paint last time.
As the pool doesnt splash.

Yea! Thanks, Dan. Let's hope they make that Jan. opening date. So many are missing the use of that pool.

Yes.
It's not as if the County provides lieguards, posted, ready, to protect you from your own cramped up, weak and rickety beliefs. When compared with past comments on the pool, what is now different? Why the suddenly optimistic, yet given their past history, unconvincing announcement?

Usually the bid will be contested, requiring a new RFP before the inevitable delays due to "unforeseeable" problems (rain, equipment availability, shipping from the mainland, inspections).
I predict October 2019, so the pool can open just after the summer heat, with another closure in March 2020 when a pump fails.
There's always Pohoiki. Which (surprise) includes "unconstrained canine waste discharge". Watch where you step!

It will be a pump from Germany that has no spare parts and it will be cemented below the pool. The only options for replacement will be to drain and replace the pool or build a tunnel underneath.
And the tunnel will have a fully permitted urinal.
