still no dispensaries on the big island
#1
It's entertaining to revisit this issue every once in a while; this article is two months old:

http://www.staradvertiser.com/2018/10/29...ispensary/

The state is giving the green light to the last of eight dispensaries to begin growing pakalolo.

Lau Ola, run by Big Island farmer Richard Ha, received approval from the Health Department, more than a year after medical marijuana sales started on Maui and Oahu.

The state announced the selection of eight dispensary licensees in April 2016. Ha had hoped to open in 2017.

Perhaps they needed a urinal?

"Coming Soon "

...for very large values of "soon", perhaps this word should be defined in HRS 329?

"Richard Ha, the farmer who helped launch Lau Ola, recently announced his retirement as the company CEO. During his four year tenure, Lau Ola has secured three dispensary locations in Hilo, Kona, and Waimea. These retail locations are expected to be operational by the beginning of the new year, under the new name."

...for very large values of "soon"

On a night when an elderly overweight resident of the North Pole crosses our borders without a passport, visa or customs inspection (while everyone looks the other way), then delivers very large values of "many" packages in a single vehicle before the sun rises, for everyone who believes he can - - this eve is the moment you question "soon?"

If you don't have the sugar free cookies and glass of mainland double pasteurized milk out by the tree, chimney, or roof vent, chop chop, better get to it, likety split. "Soon."

"Really."

Just as "soon" as the State certifies a testing lab...

this eve is the moment you question "soon?"

Since moving here I now get ready for xmas 360 days in advance -- Santa will be here any minute with my 2017 gifts.

Just announced on KITV this morning: Dispensary to open tomorrow in Hilo. Newscaster said over 200 strains available. Two others to open also on Big Island. Kona and Waiamea I think.

Great...now that they have working, stocked dispensaries..... when will they start recreational sales like the rest of the west coast? It will be interesting to see what the prices are like. Will they let people into the store that don't have a medical card just to look?

From yesterday's Tribune:

https://www.hawaiitribune-herald.com/201...d-to-open/

"Because of the extensive time it has taken to open the Big Island’s first dispensary, Shropshire said Big Island Grown hopes to open with “patient appreciation pricing.” While supplies last, patients can purchase an eighth of an ounce of marijuana for $30, and an ounce for $200."

Also,

"all customers are prohibited from taking photographs inside the retail locations."

Which tells me that they don't want anybody else seeing it.
