Pacific Spaceport in Keaau?

Pakalolo training center..

Is that where the military trains soldiers to smoke da kine?

I bet they'd love to have a rocket launch facility there.. all those impressionable young men and women gathered around taking hits and bang! Wow! Did you see that one!

"I dont like the idea of hydrazine being 8 miles away"

Unless someone found a stash of WW2 German V2's, I doubt they would be using hydrazine.

Fyi Pentane is stable and not explosive. It's flammable.
Because of their low boiling points, low cost, and relative safety, pentanes are used as a working medium in geothermal power stations in some blended refrigerants.

I don’t see any mention of “20 to 40 foot rockets” in the article

Better descriptions and reporting have been in other publications...

Since I’m not quite a rocket scientist I wanted to research Alaska Aerospace rockets to see what kind of scale of rockets we’re talking about here.

“AAC, which operates the state-owned facility, touts the vast, landless expanse of the Gulf of Alaska and Pacific Ocean stretching southward as a safety feature of launching rockets from Kodiak, minimizing the chance of debris causing damage downrange in the event of an accident.”

But they want to put a new launch facility right in the middle of Hawaii’s second largest population where the tradewinds will blow any debris or pollution back over our island.

Kodiak City is 30 miles from the Alaska launch site, population 6000.

Hilo-Keaau-Pahoa, 90,000 people within ten miles of proposed launch site.

Cape Canaveral seems to have no issues with nearby population, nor does SpaceX's use of Vandenberg AFB in California. Seems to be multitudes more homes in the vicinity of both those sites, than here.

So you may be right Rob, if Alaska Aerospace offers up claims of missile launches as agricultural use, it won’t be too far off the mark of previous explanations for airborne agriculture with which we’ve been presented.

Suggest a more appropriate location, keeping in mind that Shipman land is actually "available".

Any bets on how long an SUP for Shipman Ltd. might take if they choose to apply for one?

Another advantage to leasing Shipman land is the streamlined permitting process, available to anyone who can afford the payments.

I'm having a hard time mustering outrage over proximity of Shipman land to population when you take the example of Cape Canaveral for comparison. Maybe hundreds of thousands of people have been being gassed for decades but I kind of think that first some crusader would have sounded the alarm by now and second given the hundreds of thousands of test subjects and the decades the test has been going on, some actual measurable effects would have been documented. But what do I, a simple engineer, know. Better tap into that artery of knowledge, the internet, and see what millions of anonymous crackpots think.

Why bother with the internet for knowledge? It takes time to type in a search for 'Bad Rocket Stuff.' Anti satellite "Activists" are already using a faster method, their imagination:

Terri Napeahi, a community activist who lives on a Panaewa farm lot, said she can’t imagine rockets being low impact, no matter how small.

“It’s just going to add to the pile,” Napeahi said, referring to existing impacts to DHHL communities.
