I am genuinely interested as to how you have such a shallow interest in history yet think you can pass yourself away as some sort of authority. If you don't care about the history of Hawaii, why on earth are you discussing it? History is a great learning tool and stops us from making the same mistakes over and over again. Someone with an admitted lack of in-depth knowledge of Hawaiian history lecturing those that live in Hawaii seems utterly ridiculous to me.

You did the same thing regarding the scientific community here, telling them they have no idea what they are doing or how they analyze data; yet you don't even understand basic science. Maybe you get a kick out of appearing uninformed? Or is it simple trolling?

I extract the principles to be learned from history, but, to my own detriment, fail to remember the myriad of details upon which those principles are based. It is a failure of mine, but alas, understanding the essence of history, in lieu of the details, is far better than the reverse. Many here DO the reverse. They retain and regurgitate the details, but never learn the underlying lessons to be gleaned therefrom.

Also, you don't need to have an intimate knowledge of the history of a place to realize and voice that one-party rule is a horrible idea, regardless of the reason it exists.

Sadly, you seem to place yourself firmly in that camp.

The one and only reason you are where you are, is due to the runway behind you. You wouldn’t be where you are, without the runway behind you. Failure to understand that concept will hamper your use of the runway ahead of you, even if it’s a thousand miles long.

Not true. How you got there is irrelevant. What happens next is all that matters in the here and now.

Rob, Just to be clear...if it were republicans, greenies, independents, what ever party out there exacting the same situation as exists now in Hawaii, anywhere I've called home for 49 years, I would hold the exact same antipathy toward them.

Nice Strawman. Strawmen like yours are employed by people without substantive positions to articulate. Thanks for the confirmation.

Open-d,

You an hold all the antipathy you like but it makes no difference. In my personal opinion the local Democratic Party is not substantially different than the old Republican Party at this point in time. In past history and in the present the Big Five still hold a lot of the reins. Only noticeable difference is the unions are now part of the hierarchy and as such, more benefits accrue to the Hawaiian union workers.

Unless you want to move here and work politically to change things your comments don't amount to much.

Meanwhile this dialogue has gone far enough and should come to an end. The topic has largely become about you which is one of my moderator definitions of trolling. So please, let's wrap this up quickly.
