I got a call from someone asking for donations for some kind of police fund? The caller specified donation amounts starting with $35 up to $150. Kinda weird. I didn't know if this is legit or not so I just told the man that I didn't have money to donate for that and have a good day and hung up. I wanted to tell him that I already support the police because I pay taxes, but I didn't go there. Is this legit? Anyone else getting this call?

A fairly common scam on the Big Island. Pops up every now and again.

Kimo, it's a scam, don't give the caller any information. This has been going on for a while now, e.g.,

It is a scam done all over the mainland, too. Never give anything, including information on yourself, to any random caller.

I thought so. Thanks for confirming my suspicions. Aloha
