is about as accurate as it could possibly be because that's exactly what has happened. It wasn't a quote, so have no idea why you searched for it in the HNN article; HNN decided to add their own words as is standard media practice when reporting science. Your criticism seems to be the height of pedantry.

The chance of us encountering anything of alien origin anywhere near us is pretty much zero, which is reassuring in a way.
I'd rather communicate with them from a few lightyears away, but that may be asking too much as well.

Which goes a long way to avoid the rigid, absolutism you subscribe to. But hey, I am sure you know better, beings that you spend all your time telling anyone that will listen that you do. Though I suspect you’d be appalled at how many think otherwise.
