I've been an exede customer for the past 6 years and have been pretty happy thus far but over the last month my service has dropped out kind of randomly. In the past I have lost service when there was really heavy cloud cover but now it seems to go out even on sunny, cloudless days. Anyone else having the same trouble?
I called tech support and they advised me I might need to schedule a 95 dollar service call. Just wonder if it's my dish out of alignment or if it's a more widespread problem. Thanks.

Isn't there a "point the dish" diagnostic available to you that shows you signal strength?

I had a similar issue and it turned out to be the receiver eye on the dish was failing. I canceled my service after they charged me $95 for a service call to replace their failed equipment. I now have cable service that is 30% cheaper that Excede, faster and more reliable with no data download limits.

I had satellite service through a different company and when they advised me of the service fee I told them to disconnect my service. They waived the fee. Of course, I was past my obligatory service agreement and totally willing to walk away from their service.

I have exede, and I haven't noticed any recent issues. I have had it for about 5 years. I did notice some slowness issues about 6 months ago, and I called in and ended up switching my plan, from the freedom, to one of the more limited plans. It was less data per month, but faster speeds, at a cheaper price. since i didn't use that much data, I switched. I can still stream many movies per month.

Thanks all for your replies. Exede actually has a webpage recommending ways you can troubleshoot your connection without the service fee, and I checked through the first few things on my system but actually re pointing your dish seems like a royal pain unless you have their service people's fancy machine. Good to know it's not an island wide problem and may very well be that my dish is out of whack or equipment failure. Thanks to everyone!
