The Founding Fathers past employment record? Definitely applicable as a basis for comparison. We should recognize any group will have members with... an interesting background... providing the whole with a unique perspective when starting out to create something entirely new. Like our computer giants who first set up shop in their Mom's garage.

There were a couple dozen who dropped out (which is noted in the attendees list) many over the possibility of allowing for Federal Recognition instead of full independence.

That said, there are certain skills and backgrounds you'd like to see among people who embark on new ground, whether it's a wagon train or a constitutional convention.

It would be interesting to see a quick tally on occupations of those involved as there are several lawyers, government officials, business professionals, teachers, military, students, etc.. At first glance, the group appeared to have a wide diversity of backgrounds which to me seems useful. I myself enjoy the personal statement of Bronson Kaahui (who is active on social media on TMT, Sovereignty, & other political issues): "Don’t listen to any BS coming from any “delegate” or “candidate.” Force the debate and force them to answer questions. No exceptions."

Kahookahi Kanuha, a leader in the Thirty Meter Telescope opposition group, said he was hopeful after Gov. David Ige's announcement today that he was asking Hawaii County Mayor Harry Kim to coordinate state and county efforts to resolve the impasse over TMT construction, calling it a hopefully positive move.

"I'm hopeful that it’s a positive step in the right direction," Kanuha said at a news conference on Mauna Kea. "Because Mayor Harry Kim, unlike the governor, has come to the Puuhonua o Puuhuluhulu himself. He's been here three times. He has addressed the people. He lives in this community. He knows this community. And so I'm hopeful that his leadership would be much more understanding and, I guess, that we would have a better path and better chance of moving forward in a way that's beneficial to all through his leadership."

I would rather see tourism based upon the Hawaiian visions of the stars via the TMT than more fake hula shows.
