TMT construction begins Monday 15 July
Exactly. As the protestors are fond of saying, this about more than just a telescope.

You're right, kalakoa. Why would a business trust Hawaii to follow the law, court judgments etc, after this? We've blown this project already in my view. We needed a Governor with the guts to take charge and MAKE this happen. When he caved on the blocking of roads, he showed that he has no backbone. It's too late. We needed a closer and instead got a namby pamby tip tower.I don't see the money people behind the TMT hanging around for long.

Wondering what happens next for TMT, because we have:

- Ige delegates to Kim
- Kim has no authority
- protestors say "we're not moving"

Protestors have said they have no further reason to talk with Ige and Kim because they have no authority.
Who do the protestors want to talk with?
The Hawaii Supreme Court justices?
The TMT board?
The Rock, again?

Yes. Soon it will be about "where is the money going to come from".

They were bragging that they have 32 porta potties and they are serviced twice a day because they care about the aina and they are pono.

Don't these trucks pump all that stuff out into an overwhelmed and outdated treatment plant that pollutes the ocean ??

Maybe while they are all up there, we could stop by their properties and have wreckers haul all of their junk cars up the mauna and block the saddle road so they are trapped up there.

Oh, there's no question - they know you're good for it. Roads you can't use don't pay for themselves!

Today on the mountain:

“We are not willing to negotiate. We are not willing to compromise.” - Protest leader Kaho’okahi Kanuha, Friday 7/26/19

So... looks like there are no options.
Doesn’t it make him look at least a little... unreasonable?

My understanding is kanuha offered ...telescope personnel will be allowed to go up IF 1 car per day of the kanaka were allowed up...is this your understanding?

We are not willing to negotiate.

Then the court filings aren't worth the paper they're printed on? Can they at least rescind their various legal challenges so the courts can do something productive?

they know you're good for it

I wouldn't mind the taxes if the rate was commensurate to services actually provided.

Totally agree. Why would they even trust any of us? We look like bloody morons out here in the Pacific.....business as usual.
So Ige punts to Kim....Kim displays understanding and has no authority over the situation at all. The Board of OHA, what have you really accomplished ? And yet YOU wish to be negotiators ? U of H......years of mis management, can't you at least LOOK as tho you are even trying to uphold the decommissioning agreement?

So the Rock came and had his photo op. One thing that he did say, that I can relate to. He embraces BOTH of his cultures.
That's me. I support the astrological exploration of our universe and would love to see the TMT welcomed and built on top of Mauna Kea. I also understand the years of dishonesty towards the kanaka moili that has brought us to this point.
No, Glinda it is NOT Tom any more than it is the KAPUNA.
It is our State Government, the conflict of interest, punting all the while holding onto control., getting away as always , placing their screw ups on one group of us or all of us.
