Big Island becomes a full-on banana republic

Don't forget, we'd be a Bunchy-Top Banana Republic. So not even as good as a Banana Republic.

rainyjim - They had their day(s) in court. It’s time to admit they need to move on.

To clear, that is not what I am saying. I am genuinely asking, given the demographics involved, why should the opinions and beliefs of a minority of individuals hold any more sway than any others? This idea appears to underpin many related arguments, so I am trying to understand why it is so prevalent.

Okay, if someone blocks my driveway I'll be sure to ask them if they have a petition from 1897.

Instead of blocking a telescope why not take it straight to the offending party and blockade the US Army base up there?

After watching Kim's press conference from yesterday I'm pretty convinced this is an orchestrated premeditated political drama. Gotta be something behind the scenes about OHA extorting money. They are financing this shindig and Kim didn't have answers for important questions from the media. He's too transparent in his 80's to pull off a smoke and mirror show. He wouldn't answer why the road wasn't opened immediately and why has it been allowed to grow into the thousands. His excuse is he doesn't want anyone to get harmed. Really? He also says he is responsible the protesters don't get harmed. This is his role given to him. Keep everyone safe, period. Let us do our thing behind the scenes and we will tell you what to do next if anything. Ok, it took a while but I finally got it.

Puna Lava Flow 2018 - Set up checkpoints, post police, National Guard, and DLNR to keep everyone out. Arrest anyone beyond checkpoints, even property owners

TMT protest 2019 - Allow protestors to set up camp near a major highway with no DOT studies, planning sessions, hearings, or engineering approval. Do nothing and give them their own stop & go light.

Does that mean we can camp anywhere on state land indefinitely with no permits as long as we are protesting something?
