Shower Drive Cluster
#21
they couldn't get the required extra duty police

Because they're all busily collecting overtime elsewhere. Thanks, Kingdom!

It’s a Planned Disaster. Seems they know it’s going to fail but keep going ahead with anyway. When they did the contraflow test there were two thru lanes plus the right turn lane. And still they are not going to do anything about people stopping traffic to let in off 29th

Well this should be interesting, looked at all the possible squiggly lines on the road and we are royalay screwed. 3 lanes all the way down and only addressed the hilo bound congestion( forgetting the 10 k cars coming out at shower)
No pahoa boud contra in the evenings?
Sugest to the motorists to wait for the lite to turn at shower. It will be suicide for me to pull out there with my boat when the slow lane is doing 50?

Well thought out plan, complain to donald at state hiways, and useless kim as well.

I dont see Rudderman at bat for us. Pribably to busy counting.my money from his store lol.
Aloha

The usual state of things when I drive past a road construction site here: two cops jawing with the workers, not paying attention to cars. Twenty guys, fifteen of whom are talking story, five of whom are driving heavy equipment back and forth for no discernible reason. Line of a two hundred cars waiting on them.

Can anyone tell me how the traffic was this morning? Is Shower Drive relatively easy to exit from now? Trying to gage what time I need to leave tomorrow morning.

If you leave shower Drive before 6:45am.....and return after 6:45pm, you should be fine. The 12 hours in between will be pure hell. This effort has been pure hell. Everybody gets mad and begin to beat the "we need an alternate route" drum...but as soon as the restriping is done and we go back to "normal," it's crickets.

Ruderman? Really?

I had to go to Hilo this morning. Got lucky at the Shower to Highway light, and got moving fairly quickly. Left my place on 23rd between Kaloli and Shower at 7:34. Goal was to get to Kaiser Permanente before 9:00 am. No problem, Had time to stop at Safeway and gas up my Tacoma, and easily made it before 9:00. To the lab and had a blood draw, and was out the door about 8:45. Now, coming back from Hilo about 2:30 it was a mess.

Always amazed at how light the traffic is betwn. 7-8, OCLA blvd to Shower when school is out. Quadruples when school in session, and backa up even to Ainaloa construction or not. Fortunate to be retired, keikiless, so can adjust schedule: Wallmart opens at 5AM, KTA at 5:30, Safeway at 6 and Target (boycott till construction pau) at 7. So once a week shop, unload at home, then head to the beach for sun and swim by 7:15. Yes put in a trolley along railroad with an emergency car lane. Problem solved. Relax it's just a dream.
