We awoke this morning to a small leak from last night's moderate rain. Based on a trip to the attic, the leak is new, and the water seems to be getting in at the ridge cap. Can anyone recommend a repair service? The roof is over 20 years old, but there is no visible rust. Thanks.

They're usually pretty easy to fix at the cap. Skip the sealing tape and go straight for the foam closures under the cap. It's the capillary leaks further down the roof that are near impossible to nail down.

Those type of leaks are due usually to loose screws. Screws loosen couple different ways: someone working on the roof steps on a screw or next to it, and expansion and contraction of the roof from day/night and cloudy/sunny cycles.
Deterioration of the washers can also be a cause, so check those too. Leaks from failed screw attachments can travel a very long way making them really hard to pin down.*
*Yep, this is from personal experience!

Thanks for the helpful suggestions, folks, but I'm more likely to fall off the roof and hurt myself than to successfully fix it. I think I need a repair company or handyman recommendation.

Updated: A trusted friend read this thread and says he can try to fix the leak, so I think it's worth a go. Meanwhile, I'd still appreciate any suggestions for professional repair services just in case.
