Mauna Kea Convoy

Can't decide which is worse: that they bothered to apply for a permit, or that the City and State granted it.

The group has not hired any special duty police officers, Honolulu Police Department spokeswoman Michelle Yu said.
“HPD officers will be moving with the vehicles along the route to ensure the safety of the participants and the general public,” Yu said. “Additional officers will be positioned at the beginning and end of the event. Heavy traffic is expected along the entire route, including freeway on-ramps and nearby streets.”
HPD is urging motorists to exercise caution and patience, she said.

Free police coverage, too. Can I get the same treatment for my upcoming "Impeach Ige" protest? First Amendment applies to that too, right?

Between this and tearing down the shack on DHHL land......

I knew the state government was corrupt and incompetent, but they are now downright stupid. I can't imagine how they could handle this any worse.

A convoy of several hundred vehicles driven by people objecting to the construction of the Thirty Meter Telescope atop Mauna Kea is expected to make its way from Hawaii Kai to Maili on Sunday morning

Protect the aina.
Don’t pollute the water table.
Burn thousands of gallons of imported gasoline instead.

Outrageous. All of those participating in this wasteful, polluting, traffic snarling event should be thoroughly ashamed of themselves.

Someone needs to call them out publicly for this nonsense.

Punatic007 - I just want to go to Costco.

Just stay off H-1 or go east-bound to one of the others (there are like 4 Costcos on Oahu)

HNN reported “dozens” took part in the convoy. On an island with a population of about one million.

It looks like a lot more than a couple dozen cars in the picture I saw:
