$85k+ of your taxes SUPPORTING Mauna Kea Activists
#11
They pay $85,000 so a few hundred Hawaiians and non-Hawaiians can have tents, food and toilets.

We pay $85K to keep the protest going so that we can pay another $3.4M to keep everyone safe from the protest.

It's a perpetual motion machine: the money is perpetually coming out of our pockets.

Don’t forget EBT and Section 8......

I'm sure OHA will "pay it back" just like Billy Kenoi's $120k hostess bar / surfboard tab.... right?

These are the kind of statements that get labeled racist by the protesters and used as propaganda against the TMT. Notice the professor had to issue an apology for his recent statement about Kamehameha Schools. Just gives them more ammunition.

Point well taken, bystander. Those of us that work (and have partners that also work) probably have a hard time accepting that they can afford to be up there for months at a time without some kind of support. Now we know they *do* have support, and perhaps very tolerant families with good jobs that can pick up the slack from their absence. No doubt some are on public assistance as well.

As to the professor, I find it amusing that the focus is on his observation allegedly being racist, rather than whether or not his observation is true! If he was merely relating something the Kam Schools professor had told him, how is that racist? And if true, isn't that a crisis?

Since the protesters arrested are claiming they are practicing their religion. OHA is using tax money to sponsor it. This is a clear church/state violation

Pointing out misappropriation of funds is racist?

ironyak posts...The vast majority of OHA's funding comes from the State, as Ceded Lands are owned entirely by the State, from which OHA receives 20% of the revenue.

anyone out there have the yearly revenue $$$ garnered by the State own Ceded lands?

Everything in Hawaii is "racist", that's part of the scam.

No but the protestors would say that by bringing Billy Kenoi and his pilfering into this, you are implying all Hawaiians are like this. Why would OHA have to pay back what Kenoi stole? Just because he is Hawaiian? I'm not saying you are racist. I'm just showing how these comments can be used as propaganda.

Hawaiians are blocking the Mauna Kea Access Road. Will OHA pay back the telescope operators?

Racism is obsolete: humanity will survive, or perish, as a species.

I didn't know Billy Kenoi was Hawaiian. He was already mayor since before I moved here. My post was about government corruption. People are going to draw whatever conclusions they like or twist my words because facts don't matter.
