Maui County Sues Oil Companies For Climate Change
#11
Someone needs to pay

An easy position to take when you don't have to make the money yourself.

How bizarre, let's see how the attorneys attempt to pin point the exact damage and correlation thereof. Well at least Maui county has an over zealous mayor and I'm a little jealous of that. We still have Harry Kim running the Big Island into financial, cultural and technological ruin due to his lack of concern and action.

it used to be bigger than Owhyhee island... Haleakala was taller than Mowna Kaah or Mowna Roa too

save our indigenous and endemic Hawaiian Plants... learn about them, grow them, and plant them on your property, ....instead of all that invasive non-native garbage I see in most yards... aloha

Maui County faces..

From the linked article...

If it decides to move forward with the suit, Maui County would join other municipalities and states #8213; including New York #8213; in heading to court to recoup the real and anticipated costs of climate change...

Right on! I am sure this is just the tip of the ol preverbal iceberg. There is no getting away from the fact that the fossil fuel industry has known, and has put that knowledge aside, hidden it, covered it with disinformation, so much so as to create climate change deniers themselves. This is the biggest screw you ever by corporate greed. Way bigger than the tobacco industry that just outright, intentionally, killed people. This is bigger than the opioid crisis. This is so big. To destroy a planet's biosphere for money. To create misery for millions for money. To kill species after species, for money.

Yeah, right on Maui! I kinda wish our own would see the light themselves and join 'em already. But hey, nice to see Maui guys have.

"Right on! I am sure this is just the tip of the ol preverbal iceberg."

And where do fit into this ?

Ever ride a bus ? Drive a car ?

Whatever device you used to post your ridiculous rant had fossil fuels incorporated into the product and unless it swam here, fossil fuels transported it here.

Consumers can't necessarily afford to boycott fossil fuel and every product shipped with it. But if the fossil fuel industry and government had owned up to the negative externalities sooner, cleaner energy sources could have competed more fairly and been further along by now.

Interesting the Maui mayor doesn't seem to be concerned with spending the hard earned tax dollars of his constituents on this strange pursuit. Humans are flawed, we are all flawed, the answer is to move forward and for him to make choices in the here and now that align with his conscience of conservation. Well at least that's the mature direction in my opinion. Throwing away other people's money to prove an ambiguous point is pretty irresponsible of Mr. Mayor, as he accuses the petro companies of irresponsibility. Pot meets kettle.

The Maui mayor should read this before wasting funds: https://issuesinsights.com/2019/10/31/th...e-damages/

Sounds to me like the mayor has some lawyer friends who need some pocket padding.
