Much of the construction began before permits were in place. Building L still has no permits and is mostly complete!
There are only 5 tenants who have any permits to do finish work on the completed shells.
The only final inspection was for a 6’ or under retaining wall that is over 6’ high.
The latest article in the a paper stated that tenants would be in by Thanksgiving. Ha!
It just isn’t right when the developers can do whatever they want because they have the money.

What’s going in that building? My understanding is land is considered sacred unless it’s a McDonalds or Taco Bell. Those get a pass due to “urgent need”.

More likely the permits haven't been entered into the system.

It's not enough to merely "have" the money, a successful developer has learned how to spend it effectively by hiring the "right" people -- it's a little more expensive, but it makes the permitting process much easier.

Kalakoa, if you look at the records I’ve linked many of the building shells are now being built with as-built permits. This isn’t due to clerical delays. They are continuing to work without permits as they have done from the start.

I'm not sure I understand the point you're trying to make?

The developers have undertaken a $50 million construction project without first obtaining permits and the county is not stopping them from continuing. That is the point.

To put it another way, the rules only matter for certain people. If you're connected to the right group, anything goes. Just look around you, or more specifically, look at Mauna Kea for starters. It was going on long before that, though.

It's well documented that the county only targets establishments that require urinals.
