No more trucks with large flags
#1
Well today on KITV I saw a bit about how HPD is going to be cracking down on these large flags and banners. They say it's too much of a distraction and obscures vision. I think they said the tickets are going to be $97.
How do you feel about that? I say: yay! It seems to have become a fashion trend and less of a freedom of speech thing.

Probably true, but being political free speech I think it should be protected. Maybe they can settle on a smaller/safer flag size?

settle on a smaller/safer flag size?

After 9/11, many people flew American flags on their cars and trucks, usually small versions attached to the front of the vehicle. The highways looked like a parade of diplomats. I don’t remember whether I saw any the size of a queen bed sheet like the protestors prefer. And yet, the small American flags made their point, and we all perfectly understood the message conveyed.

I think whats going on the mountain is farce. But flying those flags is a matter of free speech I have not seen where they are obscures anyone vision. It is your own fault if you let them become a distraction to you. The county is looking any way to make more money on fines trying to make up the 5 million dollars that have wasted up there.

Too low by a factor of 10.

As I understand it, all traffic fines in Hawaii go to the state, so if the money does go toward offsetting the cost of policing the idiocy on the mountain, it will not help the county.

...because they do so much for our County? Can we secede yet?

Not exactly. I was next to a car at a stoplight and their flag completely covered the rear window.

Hmm... I completely disagree with the above statement.

I have been behind or to the side of some of these flags and yes they have obscured my vision of the road beyond the vehicle in front of me.

Sure, you couldn't see what's around you, or what lies ahead... But could you see what was behind you? Because that's what this is all about.
