Yes, having issues here in Orchidland too...internet is fine, but often the landline phone can't make or receive calls

Had problem too more often. Filters at phone jack inside house kept failing. Finally replacing didn't work. H.Tel sent out a rep. who installed a different filter at outside phone connector box. Problem solved (at least for last 6 mo's). I do not have an I phone so land line critical. But this is just a regular HTel connection, don't have fiber.

I had that problem last week I rebooted the system and now everything works fine, unplug the wifi for two minutes, then plug back in, then unplug the white incoming jack for two minutes and plug back in, wait a couple of minutes

I hate the phone service. It’s full of weird problems they can’t fix and they refuse to replace it with pre fiber service. If Spectrum ever shows up in Orchardland, I’m gone.

Contact the FCC and inform them your 911 service doesn't work due to Hawaiiantel not honoring their end of the $27 million in grants they received.
ETA: Make sure you CC: every Hawaiiantel executive email address you can find to your complaint. File congressional inquiries (you can do this via email as well). It's one thing to tell a customer "sorry, can't help you" it's another thing to explain to an FCC investigator who is legally obligated to investigate and report back their conclusions to the congressional office within 30 days why 27 million taxpayer dollars are bound up in some form of malfeasance and people can't reach 911 dispatchers after spending all that money.

I forwarded this thread to some people I know at Hawaiian Telcom. The problem is everyone's name is aliases, and their exact location is unknown. If I was having serious problems, I'd Google who is the Senior Manager - Corporate Communications, and the President and General Manager. It may result in better outcome than just posting rants in a forum. Just saying....

they refuse to replace it with pre fiber service
Providing copper is a regulatory requirement, period. Order a new phone line, they can install it alongside the fiber.

Only on the residential side. Business class gets you a real contact person. Mine even responds to email.
If, on the other hand, you don't really "need" service, just get a cell phone.

If Telcom is violating their tariff, and you want real results. file a complaint with the PUC. I've only ever had to do this once, but a Friday afternoon phone call resulted in crews rewiring the street on Saturday and techs showing up first thing Monday to install service.
