#11
That's not vegan.

"hope she gets a really good lawyer."

Yes but not a slimy one.

She probably could and should sue even if she doesn't get RLW.

Lawsuits are so ugly and stressful. As the article said all it took was one new employee to decide to ignore the rules thinking it was the best thing, and the slug got into the sandwich. There are many other ways to bring about change cooperatively than to severely penalize the owner who appears to be doing his best. But like I said there is a manager there who says "it happens" when a slug is found in food. That response is not acceptable in my opinion. Personally I think restaurants need more RLW protocol coming from the experts.

I’m glad ants don’t have rat lungworm......or do they?

One reason that there are so many of us on the planet today is that we learned eons ago to cook our food. It's not just rat-lungworm.

Sure it was organic but so what Geochem? It could have happened using lettuce that isn't organic. That isn't the issue. Foolish remark.
Speaking of foolish remarks, bananahead, just because lepto is more deadly doesn't make this issue less serious.
Alaska66, I agree, how could you be so careless as to miss a slug that sized unless you're prepping the sandwich in the dark or blindfolded?
This lady does deserve fair compensation, sorry Russell but your store f-ed up here.

At least HMC ER prescribed the recommended Albendazole. I seem to remember that last spring, there were 2 instances where the attending physicians (who were short term ER) would not prescribe the recommended Albendazole (one of the people had been admitted & had to fight to get the de-wormer!)

AFTER they told them to wait 2 weeks and see? A meeker person might have suffered or died thanks to bad advice. This all needs to be documented.

I never order lettuce, and always look it over or remove it if it arrives by accident. I eat plenty at home where I can inspect and wash each leaf.

Just love the fresh salads in the square plastic tubs at Foodland. Haven't seen any slugs yet.
