trash on Mauna Kea
#51
So why would an Hawaiian's actions be a measurement of their ethnicity?

How often have we seen The Hawaiians at the access road tell other Hawaiians they weren’t Hawaiian unless they oppose the TMT? There are videos, Tweets, and Facebook posts which repeatedly make that point.

I don't think mine is to say right or wrong.

If only.

This May be the saddest thing?
Continued disrespect from current working Astronomers atop Mauna Kea like "TomK" who continue to view or publicly belittle a portion, the so called "minority" of the island or state's residents who are "currently" against further astronomy develpoment on their sacred or treasured Mountain. Even if they have voices, concerns and reasons.
So much for Aloha!

Here's an idea:
Astronomers, DLNR, Hawaii County police, Hawaii National Guard, University, ect, and the "Minority" should spend a planned day or two together cleaning up and discarding "trash" from several areas of Mauna Kea. This may be productive in more ways than one, may even improve the chances of finding another hundred empty trash bags floating around in space.

It was meant as a rhetorical question, but for those locked firmly into an argumentative belief system, the answer for how often do Hawaiians tell other Hawaiians their actions are a measurement of their ethnicity:

quite often.

Yes! Why should protesters clean up their own garbage when they can add to the $15 million bill already spent at M.K. access Road - - and hint that perhaps there will be some meeting of the minds, but instead wander around the campground with the real cleanup crew, telling the DLNR, police, etc they, the protestors, the real Hawaiians won’t compromise.

Continued disrespect from current working Astronomers

Shutting people out of their workplace and chosen career isn't "disrespect"?

Even if they have voices, concerns and reasons.

Extremism is the refusal to discuss any "concerns and reasons".

Kalakoa,
The Astronomers themselves may have elected stop their work during that TMT caused Standoff.

Obie,
Hopefully the TMT supporters were respectful when removing one man's junk, another man's belonging's and treasure's.
