Wuhan Corona Virus Coming Soon? (Now Here)
"Either China accidentally let loose the virus from their Wuhan biohazard facility as they have with SARS three times in Beijing(documented) or one of China's numerous enemies let it loose. "

You're stepping off the deep end here. Why do people love to spread lies?

After reading and reading international news this morning(I'm getting over the flu with lots of reading time) I gave it more credence of being a market strategy and this afternoon maybe it was an accident or intentional accident. These possibilities exist, and it's all up for speculation since Xi doesn't want to tell us definitely why he shut down his country an extremely drastic maneuver without informing the international medical community exactly why and what he knows. Tomorrow I'll probably have another leaning, why does anyone care what I'm thinking? You 2 guys want to ridicule conspiracy theorists, so what, that's what you do, I could care less. I see it as feeling a sense of powerlessness and finding someone to ridicule alleviates that but I'd never tell you, lol.

Punatic007 - you said it was documented, just curious as to the source.

Believe whatever you want, but if you're willing to share those ideas then of course they are going to be questioned. Many explanations are possible but it takes reliable data to figure out what is most probable.

That said, I'm a sucker for a good conspiracy theory so if you've gone all Beautiful Mind on this and have the strings attached let us know.

Wait, you are getting over the flu and just had visitors from China?!?!? !! ??? !!!! Wink

ironyak, no it wasn't you doing the ridiculing, I had to look back. To answer your questions, I'll post the links when I find them again. Thought some of that info was already linked on this thread. Not quite at beautiful mind level yet. That said yes I had some airbnb guests from Shanghai mid December before we heard of it but was considered the beginning of contagion, and have been sick since, like a viral pneumonia, almost over it now. I'm probably the first US case, lol.

I see this as an opportunity. I often see people spreading the most ridiculous lies on Facebook and Youtube and I wonder: why do they do it?
Do they think it's exciting? Do they think it makes them important? Do they really believe it themselves? Please enlighten me!

I once knew a prepper who also liked to share conspiracy theories. I asked him why and in the end he admitted that he hoped the world would go to hell so that he would have the upper hand for once.

The 2017 article from Nature I posted earlier in this thread talks about it. https://www.nature.com/news/inside-the-c...ns-1.21487

"But worries surround the Chinese lab, too. The SARS virus has escaped from high-level containment facilities in Beijing multiple times, notes Richard Ebright, a molecular biologist at Rutgers University in Piscataway, New Jersey. Tim Trevan, founder of CHROME Biosafety and Biosecurity Consulting in Damascus, Maryland, says that an open culture is important to keeping BSL-4 labs safe, and he questions how easy this will be in China, where society emphasizes hierarchy. “Diversity of viewpoint, flat structures where everyone feels free to speak up and openness of information are important,” he says.

I don't need to own a tin-foil hat to know that Chinese factories make crap products that seldom last their warranty period. Sure, start building bio-weapon research labs there!

So that's not really what it says, right? SARS escaped inadvertently twice when two different scientists at a Beijing research lab unknowingly contracted the illness and spread it to several others. The research lab was operating with (poorly applied) BL3 protocols and was not a BL4 facility like the one in Wuhan. Also, these incidents were in 2004, less than a month from the declared end of the epidemic so had no real impact on the scope of the outbreak.

I'll skip the whole false analogy fallacy e.g. China makes crap toasters so must make crap Virology centers (but somehow makes millions of high-end Apple products and apparently world-class bioweapons Wink just to note that CFR is trending lower than SARS and is possibly quite a bit lower as more patients are found that test negative for the virus, but have anti-bodies against it i.e. those that have already been infected & recovered.

Ok here's another from the beginning of the thread, I think his twitter feed is excellent.

Yeah, I'm a little wary of people who use !! and !!! in their public communications and note that the "Thermonuclear, Pandemic-Level Bad" tweet has been deleted.

However, here is what he is currently saying:
https://twitter.com/DrEricDing/status/12...5845422083
"I do mostly agree that the new #coronavirus is less deadly per person than SARS (~10% CFR) and MERS (~20%). But I think it’s still too early to pin down if the true overall CFR is 1-6%, despite CNN’s graph. Attribution of cases/deaths still incomplete."

Which makes sense as many of the confirmed cases have not resolved to either a death or recovery. Quite a change from the fiery end of the world proclamations?

Not just a teacher at Harvard but an epidemiologist.

Dr Feng also figures that the data is being under reported but based on what data is available is sounding alarms.

Ironyak yes, he got a lot of flack from other bio people telling him that its not good to cause panic. not arguing the data but because it might cause panic. You see, the little folk need not worry about it until they need to worry about it.
