That's a good idea. As a kid living in Tacoma, my folks took me to Bremerton several times to let me run around on the decks of the Mighty Mo... Never had here open to below decks though. It wasn't until about 3 years ago while back east, I got to go all over the USS Massachusetts in Fall River floating museum.. Be nice to get to see how the newer battleship differs from the Massachusetts.

Royall, I did the airport to Pearl Harbor route on the Bus a few years ago (just before the Arizona was closed). Flew on Hawaiian, one of the early morning flights. The buses run every 30min, so if one is to soon to make, you can always get another one 30 min. later!
They had the reservation system then, but there are always walk-in tickets available everyday (as the link above states) & we were able to get those for hours later than we arrives, so filled the time with the Mighty Mo & the other museums around the Harbor.
You can easily fill a day at the Harbor, & remember there were a couple of years that all visitors missed out on the Arizona, but they still had lots to do!
Oh, there are also tour groups that have tickets, so if you have to see the Memorial, & cost is not an issue, check out the Pearl Harbor tours
Here is one tour operator with a few offerings

For the Arizona memorial, besides the reserved tickets there are a certain number available either the day of or the day before (I forget which it is). If you get on the site right around 7 AM when they become available, you can usually score one. Walk-in tickets are a little more dicey since they often fill up for the day early on.

Make sure you go early. Last year we flew over and tried to go in the afternoon. The parking lots were completely full.
