It's been shown to be a bit more complicated - water slows evaporation and increases contact time so 70% IPA is actually more effective than 90%+ for disinfecting.

20% seems way low based on other recommendations I've seen - like spirits fail to completely disinfect when their alcohol content is below 50%. (quick grab - probably better sources)

Meanwhile,
local woman tests negative for SARS-CoV-2 after being exposed to a case in Northern California (one of few confirmed cases there now). (only on SA for now - catch while catch can)

ETA: Woman tested is a health-care worker who cared for the recently confirmed case in CA. She arrived in Honolulu yesterday with mild symptoms, quarantined in her hotel room, tested negative for COVID-19 virus by HI state lab today, confirmed as common cold virus.

Finally.
The same rules apply to everyone.
Hawaii residents agree on their priorities.
This could be the start of a beautiful friendship between taxpayers, government workers, pro-this, anti-that, Democrats, Republicans, rich, poor...
Something we can all agree on. Perhaps a way forward into a golden future of harmony and opportunity.

My airbnb calendar is booked for the next 2 months and frankly I don't know if it's a good idea for people to vacation at this critical point in time if we are trying to minimize contagion. Most everyone comes from afar, the mainland and international. Am considering closing my calendar which is airbnb suicide, I'll lose my top-tier advertising if I do so BUT I also don't want to contribute to the madness either. Any thoughts?

007, Interesting quandary. I suppose you can just keep going with booking. Nobody else is going to stop until they are forced to do such.
People are still sending their children to school. Airlines are still bringing people and Hawaii has not confirmed anyone with the sickness.
Besides the run on toilet paper and other notions everything is normal.

This is the kind of headline that’s worrisome for a business like yours:
An older adult woman from California is the second case of unknown origin of the novel coronavirus, health officials in Santa Clara County said Friday.
The patient didn't have any relevant travel history or exposure to another known patient, said Dr. Sara Cody, director of the county's public health department.
"This new case indicates that there is evidence of community transmission, but the extent is still not clear.” "I understand this may be concerning to hear, but this is what we have been preparing for. Now we need to start taking additional actions to slow down the spread of the disease."

HOPTE, Not sure why the media seems so concerned with the "no known contact" issue. We know the virus stays on surfaces and transmits from them, i.e. stair or escalator railings at the mall or airport, the carts at our local stores, could be anywhere? We touch things other people touch all day, often everyday. Or people simply don't know the whereabouts of their neighbors, co-workers etc... Seems like a waste of direction to me.
Bringing internationals into our neighbors on "vacation" at this point IMO is pushing it.

The unknown factor is, to what extent? And how long can those surfaces transmit the virus? That would affect the risk in secondary exposure to you, your workers, and subsequent guests.

007 - In all honesty, just like the airline routes to China and South Korea, the market will likely sort this out for you over the next several days. Now that state labs can test, all those lurking cases that have to be out there given the statistics involved will more quickly come to light. You might want to consider how best to handle cancellations?
Google and Amazon limiting employee's travel

"Amazon is asking employees to defer all nonessential travel, a spokesperson confirmed to The Verge,
which includes domestic travel within the US." (emphasis mine)
Also another community-transmission case announced, this time in Oregon, with ties to an elementary school. Check out how a press conference is properly handled.

^^ which brings me back to the schools should be closed.. If you have kids in school. My advice is to pull them till this thing blows over because by the time you know there is a problem it will be too late.. 2
