AT&T Cell Reception in HPP - Tower Permit Denied
#1
AT&T won't have improved cell phone reception in HPP or Kurtistown anytime soon, both their proposed towers were denied permits:

Dozens of residents came to Thursday’s meeting in Hilo to oppose proposals by telecommunications company AT&T to build a pair of cell towers, one in Kurtistown and one near the intersection of Makuu Drive and 17th Avenue in Hawaiian Paradise Park.

“Let me be clear: That tower will not be built here,” Ellwood said. “We will not allow it to be built.”

Wanna bet that that those who opposed the permits are calling each other on cell phones to congratulate themselves?

Probably not. No reception.

Ironically, the more cell towers there are, the less power is needed to send signals so less imaginary damage to their health.
Poor ill-informed people.

Too little.... too late. I had ATT for 30 years and the last 10 years in HPP subdivision using ATT was upsetting to say the least. Nothing was ever done after repeated complaints about reception. Finally switched to Verizon last year and reception was fantastic!

Planning Commission should limit "standing" to those who don't have a cell phone.

Alright! Our resident expert on everything is chiming in on cell phone towers now. Remember, if it’s nots verified through Paul or his go to website for learning, Wikipedia, it’s conspiracy and created by stupid and or ill informed people. Lol.

I’m so glad we have someone to continually tell us how stupid, ill informed, kook, irrational, fear mongers everyone except for Paul is!

I personally think cell phone towers are ugly and wouldn’t want to look at one from my house if I were a homeowner next to a proposed build site. But hey, it’s all about conspiracies so I’m sure that had nothing to do with people deciding against it.

In fact if you read the article posted very carefully, you’ll read that people want more “information” on health effects. Longer studies on health which haven’t been done. Some even comment on not wanting to look at a ugly 200’ tower and yet our resident expert on all things can only “cherry pick” comments out to “SPIN” it into a conspiracy.......

“Poor ill informed people” lmao! What a kook thing to call them. Actually it’s disgusting behavior as usual.

Let’s all see the flood of links Paul will provide from Verizon, att, Wikipedia on why all cell phone towers are safe, don’t affect health in anyway, don’t impact the environment /birds and wildlife in anyway ect.......

So funny! Keep um coming Paul. You have become a source of entertainment here, nothing more.

This problem is easily solved with CC&Rs, which are legal, democratic, and need not be grounded in "science". If everyone feels so strongly, there should be no problem retrofitting these restrictions into the subject properties.

As far as the science goes: transmit power x inverse square x beam pattern x tower height = less ERP than the phone you're holding up to your head. But I'm just a "stupid, ill informed, irrational kook" (designing the T-shirt now, website coming soon).

Please inform us, islandlooney, on how cell phones and towers are unhealthy. No credible evidence for that at all.
"More studies are needed" is a just a typical delaying tactic by nimbys.

So, I assume you don't have a cell phone?
