Protocol requires everything... masks, gloves, etc is changed between each patient. It's not like each healthcare workers needs 1 mask every 8 hours. They need several dozens or hundreds depending on the assignment.

Yep cruise ships are an entity all unto themselves, the perfect floating petri dish. Some argue if we shut them down for now, might as well cancel air traffic as well, a poor argument at best. Just shut down the cruise ships, at least for the sake of us here in Puna. Shut them down now.

How long before one is symptomatic does one become a source of the infection?

Are we to assume those in port, in Hilo, on the 29th were already contagious and yet asymptomatic?

I see there is a large number of the ship's staff involved. Maybe they do less sightseeing while in any give port. Though we probably have to consider everyone that got off that ship brought a little of that good ol' CONVID 19 aloha with them, and deposited some here and there on all sorts of surfaces..

So.. how long is the incubation period? Are we basically saying from Feb 29 we are counting down to some sort of D-Day when those initial infections bloom? In a week? Two weeks? And when do those that were infected on Feb 29 become contagious? Now? is there open, in the wild, transmission happening on island today? Tomorrow?

symptoms can start within a few days (2-3) in some people But the worrying part is that they can be asymptomatic for weeks. This means they can transmit the virus to others without appearing sick.
Because they only tested 45 people it does not give a very good swath of the general health of all the passengers on the ship. So being that most of them tested were crew there could be many more passengers with asymptomatic infection.

The end result is worrisome for all Hawaii islands.
