Nah, New York just decided after nearly 250 years of being in the Union to discuss doing their own thing now instead. You know, for funsies.
There is no chance that 19 is being used to test the limits on the expansions of Federal powers, or the boundaries of State's rights. The mobilization of the National Guard and the Reservists, and the inherent conflict of loyalties for these forces during a national emergency, is so obviously not an issue and clearly has nothing to do with this event.
It's all going to be just fine - go back to sleep everyone. There is no chance the world can change in the blink of an eye. It's not like it's ever happened before.

This will all be over in a few months and life will go on much like before.
Funny that this was a round number year (2020) which did not have lots of end-of-world predictions before it started.

In times like these, I've learned that whatever will benefit the rich is the most likely to happen. I don't think civil war will benefit the rich as much as further exploitation of the working class. We'll get through this, just with a lot of unnecessary death and permanent disability.

How about this - you let me know the last time a State Governor seriously discussed war with the federal government. You know your history and can offer some historical comparisons right? Or do you only have your personal opinion to offer? Yep, imagine the reception a seer would have gotten from this crowd. Chicken Little has never been welcome here. And still, there's enough fodder for everyone. No need hoard. Though I find in a few months and life will go on much like before more hopeful than I would venture, I'd sure like it to win the day. Unfortunately it doesn't fit any timeline I see. No, unless as posted elsewhere we don't have unseen asymptomatic spread taking place on island.
But, you see, I have this itch, this sneaking suspicion there is spread of good ol' #19 here on island. And yet I am hopeful there is a chance we are poised to contain what we do get. I really hope so, with all my heart, I think every atom in my body is praying for it 24/7. It sure feels like it.
But outside our borders, our beautiful protective natural borders? I doubt anyone is anticipating that in a few months.. life will go on much like before. No, without a unified leader on the mainland doing what our borders are doing for us, ie setting healthy boundaries, the numbers are too disproportionate. It's going to take longer to run it out, to infect that many people and let the disease run its course.
And then maybe there's a 'seasonal' aspect to the ebb and flow of #19. One can hope, some kind of time out and we all get to enjoy a snack.. watch some cartoons. Though I doubt it. And certainly tourists, the great symbol of our lives as it was before, aren't going to return anytime soon. This isn't a financial crisis, this isn't 2008 or whenever we want to reach back in time for a comparison, this is a ravishing disease. As such all those would be tourists will be in their own homes, towns and cities, trying to put their own lives back together. Too busy, too broken, to come and sit on our shores.
But hey, as a wannabe Doom and Gloomer (I don't think I ever rose to full membership I mean, all those meetings and whatnot, and I certainly didn't buy the swag) my best guess is we should start simple. Hope that we, here on the Big Island, alone, can return to some semblance of normalcy. But that is wholly dependent upon our borders being shut tight and remaining shut.
And you know.. all bets are off if the government lets property owners foreclose on their leases, and banks their unpaid loans. If capitalism leads us we are doomed. Every mom and pop snorkel shop, dive boat, stupidly named eatery, and boutique that made our tourists just squeal with joy will have vaporized. There will be nothing here to welcome them even if they come. But OMG sashimi will be cheap.
But don't worry, the banks will be open. So yeah, in a way, a small way, one could say, in a few months.. life will go on much like before...

I dont think I claimed it was a bio weapon, (although it could be)
I think i referred to baby kim as a possible origin.
