Wuhan Corona Virus Coming Soon? (Now Here)
Yeah, CDC basically lied on masks. And it's not like hospitals are competing to order a 5-pack on Amazon, they buy in the tens of thousands from completely different distribution channels.

Also, we have our Hawaii DoH still saying there are "no treatments" for Covid-19, when in fact several antivirals are showing promising results, and even (hydroxy-)chloroquine and zpacs are being endorsed by more doctors on the front lines. Sure, nothing has yet passed a controlled study for this particular coronavirus, but if you're on a ventilator you will want them to try something, not just throw their hands up in the air.

Heck, even zinc supplementation has show promising results against the common cold coronavirus and SARS, yet you have doctors ridiculing people for taking supplements! Personally I'll take every advantage, however slight, for protecting my family, and all their co-workers and friends that still have to work through this!

Medicine needs to be "opened" much like computing was in the 90s and 00s. Let people have some control over their treatment, and record the results for everyone's benefit. Don't require a doctor's visit when you already suspect what you have and just need a test or a low-risk prescription. Make data on outcomes, hospitals, and doctors available to patients.

FDA approves emergency use of malaria pill for COVID-19 treatment

Which begins..

The Food and Drug Administration on Sunday approved the anecdotally promising malaria drug for emergency use to treat hospitalized patients for COVID-19.

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) said in a statement it has accepted 30 million doses of hydroxychloroquine sulfate donated by Sandoz, the Novartis (NVS) generics and biosimilars division, and one million doses of chloroquine phosphate donated by Bayer Pharmaceuticals (BAYRY).

The drug is currently being tested in New York hospitals.

The drug’s effects on patients has result in a shortage for patients who use it for arthritis and lupus, and there have been reports of hoarding among medical professionals. Several states recently took steps to limit the number of prescriptions filled, by forcing increased accountability of who is prescribing the drug and why...

I hope nobody suggests something like this for Pahoa or Hilo, but it probably rains too much here for it to even be attempted. Las Vegas has painted social distancing boxes in a parking lot, so their homeless will sleep about 6 feet apart. While it may have been proposed and devised as a health aid against COVID-19, the photo, at least for me, evokes an ambiguous, but inherent cruelty in the regulated neglect beneath the scheme.

I can't get the image out of my head this morning.

And to think.. their hotels are empty. Thousands and thousands of beds..

Heartless.

All those empty rooms. Those empty rooms are not free. someone owns them. Maybe you have an empty room in your home you can go grab a homeless person to stay in?

Most of those people that are homeless are there by choice.

Some people end up homeless by bad choices or bad luck. but many of them are not there forever. The homeless situation will likely get worse after this economic situation. I can see the re-assembly of the works progress administration being formed again where many people will be able to gain some employment to get back on their feet like they had to do in the 30's. But the chronically homeless will not take advantage of that program. Its easier just to not have to work and live on the streets.

Many property owners will not even rent long term due to potential of being taken advantage of by certain tenants. I figure the problems are at least as bad giving rooms to chronic homeless. Tragic, yes but these are real challenges that property owners face.

'Tis a problem when we allow for our logic, our minds, to have a say in matters of the heart.

I appreciate your points kander, but this is pandemic. Compassion for life, an unbending desire to ease the suffering of others, our humanity, is what we need to bring..

The saying 'there but for the grace of God, go I' and all it implies is very apropos, don't you think?
