Bill Gates
#1
I'm just curious if any of you saw the news reports that say Bill Gates told the government 3 years that this was going to happen but they didn't listen?

Bill Gates has been warning of the next major outbreak for several years.
https://www.cbsnews.com/news/coronavirus...readiness/

Ever talk, every conference, every training exercise, all the same message: the U.S. and the world are not ready for this, nor are we taking any steps to get ready.

Just the opinion of some genius, hot-shot tech-protege, billionaire, & humanitarian philanthropist - everyone else knew better than him apparently?

Genius is debatable. But the message was clear enough for anyone to see. the choice was made to ignore it.

Even I said:
Yeah, you're right, Gates.
But, no signs of it happening right now.
It'll probably happen sometime in the future, though.

A lot of folks in Kapoho and Leilani said "but not in my lifetime"

Bill Gates has patents on weather modification.

I'm not surprised that he dipped his toes into pandemics considering his donations towards battling diseases like malaria but he's also into lots of "futuristic" stuff. Of course a pandemic was going to happen "eventually".

But that's not what he said. He said we needed to "get going because time is not on our side."

That was 2015.

Nothing wrong with that as long as they deal with life as it comes.

We're in Lenani Estates less than a mile from fissure 8.
I stayed until forced out by the county.
I never stopped saying "not in my lifetime."
M'Lady was beginning to have her doubts for a while.
We're both back to Not in our lifetimes, again.

The only promise you were given when you were born is that you will die.
No one gets out of this alive.

Just be very happy you are not having to deal with this epidemic while having to deal with a famine, war, an eruption, a hurricane, or anything similar.

Nothing wrong with it at all. The humbug is in the varying degrees folks can deal with it when it comes.

As to Gates.. by the nature of his foundations endeavors he is/was aware of things, and took advantage of his notoriety to inform others. The executive before our current administration felt it worthy of their/our consideration and important to safeguard our wellbeing. As such they developed policies accordingly. They created an agency, in the White House complex itself, to develop and implement programs to be prepared for a viral epidemic specifically. Even to the extent of funding scientists to be on staff in hospital settings in China to be on the lookout for novel strains of coronavirus. And, the current administration shut down the entire department. The scientist in China, was last on the job, last November in Wuhan China.

Imagine that.

kander - Genius is debatable.

Sure... as if helping establish the world's dominant software company for decades, and becoming the world's richest man for many years, and creating one of the world's leading charitable organizations, and giving more conference speeches and TED talks than almost anyone alive is a common accomplishment.

The Gates Foundation was also behind the Event 201 pandemic exercise just last October - result: more needs to be done to prepare for a pandemic now (which was then - now it is too late)
