Somebody should be watching the monkeys at the zoo, to make sure they aren't having meetings and whispering amongst themselves.
Stay at least six feet away from a tiger...

If I find myself within six feet of a tiger, COVID19 is not what’s going to be on my mind.*

They tested the tiger because it was showing symptoms. If it's showing symptoms then it's possibly coughing out corona viruses.
Which leads me to wonder if cats have been infected too and are spreading it through the community. Sorry if it's fear mongering, I would just like to know. ETA: https://www.nytimes.com/2020/04/06/scien...virus.html NYT says no need to worry yet. Phew.

quote: No offense to you PaulW, but that article is idiotic. Giving NYT great benefit of the doubt, maybe they are trying to avoid general public panic over domestic cats, but I don't care if the tiger (or other cats & animals) are showing mild symptoms - asymptomatic humans can do a fine job of spreading the virus, maybe the same is true of animals. And given cats' propensity to groom themselves (by licking their fur), and travel widely when outdoors, if the virus does spread through the cat population, they would make a hell of a vector... I do hope that someone is actually looking in detail at this. (and to provide full disclosure, I have had cats as valued members of my family for most of my life...).
