Wear those masks people, whatever you got!

Here is the most interesting article I have read about this "airborne" idea. Many opinions. Science is rarely simple. read it all. And don't forget that there are politics in the CDC. https://www.refinery29.com/en-gb/2020/04...s-airborne also this one: https://www.nejm.org/doi/pdf/10.1056/NEJ...Tools=true sent by my friend who is a doctor in Japan. If you will read carefully you will see that masks are not thought to do any significant good, although I would wear on in a crowded situation.

... although I would wear on in a crowded situation.

I saw a woman yesterday driving on a back road in HPP, alone in her car, wearing a facemask. She had just finished taking a walk. She could have had any number of good reasons for wearing the mask, and keeping the mask on, but as one person commented when I told them about the (non)encounter, "this is Puna, she was probably protecting herself from herself."

It's been a while since I've been in a store, but the last time there were more people wearing masks, but still people coughing into hands or the air. At least in those cases a mask might have limited the spread.

I think it is worth noting..

We have all seen ag workers, or county/state roadside maintenance workers, wearing masks when spaying herbicides for weed eradication. This is a standard practice that has been discussed ad nauseum in our to Roundup or not to Roundup threads.. always with the qualification about following the instructions.

Those masks, and their application, is no different than the discussion now in relationship to #19. It's the same mechanism. A protective barrier to keep out droplets of moisture. In the Roundup discussions it's aerosoled diluted in water Roundup, in the current discussion it's an aerosoled virus. There is no difference. Both are carried on the wind and both can harm anyone that inhales them.

The entire masks don't work discussion, or masks only work to keep those infected from infecting others, or whatever statement shy of just wear a mask already... is satire, right?

The person wearing a mask while spraying poison is protecting him/herself from inhaling poison, not exhaling poison. Why is this so hard for folks to understand? Should only the person doing the spraying wear a mask, or by chance is it anybody in close proximity to the sprayer that should be protected? And if that is the case, what is different about covid-19 that we wouldn't apply the same level of concern, and protection, as we do with our ag workers?

Please, wear a mask. If your philosophy, or whatever idealism or dogma you practice says no need, maybe common curtesy, and the desire to show respect to others, is enough. At least until government wises up and demands that you do.

I suspect we are a week, if not just days, before masks will be required for anyone to enter any enclosed public space. In other words, you won't be able to shop for food without one.
