Has anybody tried the new Thai place?

Did you look at their menu $$$

Yes, but Ning's has recently (since my previous visit, though we don't eat out often) jacked their prices up quite a bit.  Thep Thai is only marginally more expensive, and if the portions are larger, they are in the same orbit.

Gus, do you know if Thep curries include a side of rice?  Ning's charged us $4.00 for rice but most restaurants usually include it with the dish. I can buy 10 pounds of rice for four bucks and eat rice for a year, and simmering or steaming is not a complicated preparation process.

I’m betting a lot of people are rethinking the value of eating out.....

I had heard about L&L, looked at their menu and wasn't at all interested but will definitely check out Thep.  Ning's is hit or miss.  We recently got some noodles and soup and there were almost no vegetables.  Supposed coconut soup doesn't seem to have any coconut milk and was chocked full of anise and nothing else.  I'm actually a Chiang Mai fan but Hilo's a bit of a drive for takeout.
Certainty will be the death of us.

I don’t know if the curry dishes include rice but my garlic shrimp dish did.

"Ning's is hit or miss"

That seems to plague everywhere in Pahoa. Honestly we only go there because they are (were) the only Thai game in town. One time we went there a few minutes after opening time and the waitress literally screamed at us that they weren't open yet (then why is your door open? Why does the clock say it's past your opening time?). We wound up going to Kaleos for one of their unpredictable meals instead of getting screamed at. One of our friends said she refused to eat there because the staff was "abusive" and honestly I thought she was crazy for thinking that. I think we found the waitress she had the one time she ate there and now understand the abusive adjective.

Last time I went to Ning's I got take out. Took it home and ate two bites and tossed it in the bushes. Haven't been back since.

Well, my wife and I tried out the new Thai restaurant and frankly were not impressed. Maybe almost as tasteless as Ning's. I miss Suko Thai.

Apparently the state's only 24/7 propane vending machine is now operational at the Puna Kai shopping center:

"Waikoloa Propane's self-serve kiosks are now open for business! Customers can purchase or exchange propane cylinders with no lines, no wait, and 24/7 operation in a convenient and accessible outdoor location. Located on the south side of Building E (O'Reilly Auto Parts). Learn more at waikoloapropane.com"

Wow, along with self service propane... also self service beer!

Also a Dominos pizza.

Some of us won't need that road to Hilo as much !

Don't knock Domino's.
I spent over a year living in a condo in Hilo and my wife always had our only remaining vehicle.
Used the Domino's app a lot. 30 min delivery !
