Decline in Real Estate
where is the magic to Baja? I fail to see it? I lived and worked in Puerto Vallharta for a couple of years. Stayed there long enough to hate the country, their laws, and their people for the most part! Yes, that's right, I learned to hate these people. Why? Well, at the time I decided to live where the local folks lived. I could have stayed at a four star hotel for my entire trip there but opted out. So I lived in ,and experienced a Mexican Barrio. It was called "Colonial Alta Vista", beautiful by Mexican standards. But once the locals found out that I was gringo...well there went the neighborhood. Every Mexican and his cousin wanted to "beef" with me! Why? For every Mexican who ever had a relative who ventured to America has a terrible story of some sort of abuse at the hands of Americans. Me living in this Barrio was these jerks chance for payback. So I was having to walk tall all the time until I decided to teach "Muay Thai", the the Mexicans in the barrio. Then I became a local hero of types...go figure?

But I had surfed for years in Baja and never really cared for it. To me it was an extension of california itself!

If you want paradise in Mexico, you go directly to Puerto Escondido. Don't stop anywhere else! It's a little bit of Heaven brought to Mexico. I use to think it was in Puerto Vallharta...but I was wrong!

Could we now assume we are currently in a "Buyer's Market"?

John (dirgo) - do you know that stats for brand new home sales for Oct 06 versus Oct 05?

Unfortunately, our MLS does not have a good way to differentiate new home sales from existing home sales. However, comparing Oct 05 to Oct 06, median sales price (as questionably useful as that is) in Puna for houses is up about 13% to $272,000.

Hey easy there beachboy.... those are my people and my cousins are fairly nice.

Hate living there if you want and never go back but understand that just like the locals living here, the Mexicans took a lot of abuse from the gringos...and pretty much the same thing that is happening here to land prices is happening there... indigenous people always are the losers... lets make sure our Hawaiian friends are not...but that is another thread.

tropical atmosphere was awesome. Sleeping in a Hammuck in the shade by Puerto Escondido, otherwise known as the "Mexican Pipeline", was always nice. Memories of awesome surf.

like I said, I was minding my own business there. But every Mexican who thought he had balls the size of Cadillac Hub caps got in my face. Now you tell me what I'm suppose to do? Please, don't tell me I should have minded my own business, because that's what I was doing there!

Good example of how "crazy" the people are. I use to go feed these "wild cats",everyday at this condo in PV. Then one day this Mexican Lady starts screaming at me for feeding the cats cans of Tuna! She went on about how her husband is a drunk and doesn't even bring home a can of tuna for his family!! Tuna is really cheap in Mexico, so i feed the "strays". Yet, I'm an a**hole because I feed tuna to stray cats, and this lady's husband wouldn't even bring tuna home for his family....so I'm a jerk for that?!?

I told myself I'd choke out the first Mexican I came across in Hawaii upon my return home. My anger has since turned to pity. Such a vast country loaded with corruption at every turn! It's no wonder this country is so messed up!
