I've been pleasantly surprised at the change. I usually have Amazon orders delivered to my brother's place in Hilo so I don't have to worry whether it is USPS or UPS....
Anyway, an order I made Friday (email confirmation time: 2:26 PM) was delivered (USPS) at 2:25 PM Sunday! I've never gotten an order faster.
Both items I ordered were sold by Amazon.

Del's is already running two stores so as to avoid breaking a lease, and the timing does sort-of fit.
Then "just" move Jungle Love into the old Supercuts so the Ace can expand...
Find a way to bring in the nursery part of the old Puna Feed...
An "ag shopping center" would be a really useful counterpart to Puna Kai, and a clever way to differentiate the two.

I ordered an item yesterday from Amazon about 6:00pm & got it today’s mail. That’s the fastest delivery I’ve experienced since living here in Hawaii. It was sent by usps, too.

My current Amazon order says it arrived at Amazon facility, Kailua-Kona. Another one arrived at Amazon facility, Honolulu. What will tomorrow bring?

If it is coming via USPS, don't count on it.

On that Monday when the package left Pahoa - the carrier had mentioned to a number of people that they had a super busy load and that not all deliveries were going to be made. I am beginning to suspect that they simply put packages back on a truck to go elsewhere, buying them several days time.

That would explain why the Kona Amazon package arrived and the Honolulu one still says Honolulu. On the bright side I got a 3 day priority package mailed 2 weeks ago. Coming soon, 3 week priority mail.

Jeff Bezos, founder of Amazon just bought a house on Maui.
Hopefully when his orders take forever to arrive at his new home in Hawaii, he can call a supervisor at customer service with a direct line, then check in with shipping logistics and solve the problem. If we're lucky, he'll improve the system for all of us. Even in Puna.
