Decline in Real Estate
quote:
quote:
I am a meber of the Council of Certified Real Estate Brokerage Managers and we just had a one day class about understanding today's real estate market.

Whatever the RE people have to say, no matter how smart some people think they are, is biased.

Had you been at the class bystander than you would have known that it was not conducted by RE people. How about shoting at dentists now? Smile

Hi John

I know the sellers family ( Sue L.) from Salinas so they wanted us to look at the property, we bought it.

A good read for you construction folks. Maybe we should cancel Xmas so you guys can save some money for the economic winter...

A short blurb:

The Globe and Mail. “First, Americans quit buying homes. Now, they may have stopped fixing and furnishing them too. Bob Nardelli, Home Depot’s CEO said job losses in the home construction market are the worst he’s seen in 35 years, and the pain is starting to spread to the home renovation market.”

“‘The loss of jobs…in the home construction market is at unprecedented levels,’ Mr. Nardelli told analysts. ‘Home builders [are] basically writing off earnest money and liquidating land. We’re starting to see a lot of that unemployment find its way over to the small repair and remodel contractors.’”

“In October, U.S. retail sales fell at an annual rate of 0.2 per cent, the third consecutive monthly decline, according to a U.S. Commerce Department report yesterday. ‘The housing slowdown left its grimy fingerprints all over this report,’ economist Douglas Porter said.”

“‘People are being very cautious,’ said economist Ian Shepherdson. ‘The housing crunch is now hurting."

Jared, I suggest you read the above link. As this is what you are preaching. I'll bet you'll
just be soo happy when the US Economy falls into a depression.

Some of the Ashley stores in California closed over a year ago, when the real estate market was still in full swing. There must be other problems in the company.

Let's just try to stay positive here, can we?

With much Aloha

Just presenting infomation. How do you know what I am thinking? Do you have alien technology that lets you read minds. OOOOOoooo. Or maybe I am presenting propaganda and a crazy conspiracy where monkeys ride horses and we blow up the Statue of Liberty. Damn, I got to quit watching Planet of the Apes. Do I relish a recession or depression? No, not at all. But there will always be money to be made except at the peaks and valleys. Just presenting information. I have a plan based on your idea, if we don't talk about rain it will never rain, thats an idea. Everyone now stop talking about rain. Aaron S says "If we don't talk about it, it won't happen." Aaron take your show to the hospital tell everyone with cancer, if they don't talk or think about cancer it won't happen and you will have saved millions.

PunaPaula:

I just found it interesting that the article stated "Local businessman Michael Cutler, who owned the Ashley Furniture store mainly with other local investors, said in an interview that business weakened significantly early this year, mostly because of a dramatic slowdown in home sales." I think largely alot of Ashley's problems are their business and growth model, but I don't sit in on their board meetings. Do I own Ashley furniture? No, I find their stuff to the sub standard and tend to buy older brands like Lane and such.

Depression?! I guess I better go back to take more classes! I have not heard of a depression forecast yet. Smile

Jared, Fear, Uncertainty and Doubt, thats what you've been preaching (along with a lot of other people). I've been following your posts, it seems you just relish that our economy is going to be destroyed. You sound like a little miser, who is jumping for joy because the sky
is falling.

John, I'm sure you've read Jared's posts thus far. He's been preaching a depression forecast for awhile.
